The Oconee Humane Society, Inc.  is a private charitable 501( C)(3) organized under the laws of the State of South Carolina. The Humane Society is independent from any national animal welfare or humane organization. This is important to know when determining who will receive your financial contributions. Although national organizations, such as The Humane Society of the United States, are also non-profit groups, their focus is generally on national trends and concerns. We do not receive any financial assistance from these groups. If you wish to support your local Humane Society, your contribution must come directly to us.

There are many ways your philanthropic gift can mesh with financial needs and tax planning. Planned gifts include bequests through wills, charitable trusts, life income gifts, life insurance benefits and retirement benefits and are usually made in the form of cash, real estate, stocks, bonds and personal property.

It is only through the generosity of people that our programs are made possible; your gift facilitates the humane treatment of animals and all that entails.
