Maddie's Fund Award

The Oconee Humane Society has been awarded a $5000 grant from Maddie's Fund.  Oconee Humane Society and the Oconee Animal Shelter collected shelter statistics for the calendar years 2007, 2008, and 2009.  The statistics included all dogs and cats impounded or turned into the Oconee Animal Shelter and the disposition of these animals.  A requirement of the grant is to publish this data on our website and in our quarterly newsletter. The Oconee Humane Society will continue to collect and publish this data through the calendar year 2012 in accordance with our Maddie's Fund agreement.

The Humane Society and Animal Shelter intend to use the major portion of this grant to fund low cost spay/neuter for qualified Oconee County pet owners.  More details to be published soon.

Maddie's Fund is a charitable foundation endowed with more than $300 million by Dave and Cheryl Duffield in memory of their beloved Minature Schnauzer, Maddie.  You may visit their website at www.maddiesfund.org.
